Mother's Day 2012

This was my 4th Mother's Day to celebrate. I have to say the things my kids make me are far more precious then any store bought gift could ever be. Emma LOVES to make things for people so I couldn't wait to see what all she had in store this year. Here are a few pictures of what they did. I had to serve at church that day so when I got home after them I walked upstairs and saw this...

I had told Ben in passing I'd love to have some of their artwork framed. Emma heard me say that a while back and they bought some frames and she picked out 2 things she did and 2 things Brooks did and had him frame them.
Emma Bean with all the stuff she did (Brooks didn't want his picture taken)

She had my mom take her to the dollar store and she got this cute candle holder and then painted it for me! So creative!

My little cutie pie taking a picture of me taking a picture!

I'm so blessed to be called mom!

Emma's Last Field Trip

I've once again gotten a little behind in posting. I just realized I never posted about our last field trip of the year. Back towards the beginning of April we went to the Children's Theater to see Alice and The Wonderland. This time it was in the big Children's Theater part. Emma had a lot of fun and while it's not one of my favorites I was so thankful to get to go with her. Shannon and Harper rode with us so the girls had a great time going and coming. Here are some pictures from the field trip.

Harper, Roxana, Emma and Kate...best buddies!

 Group picture of both classes

Kate, Roxana, Harper and Emma doing their train!

After we left we dropped Shannon and Harper back off at their car. We had just enough time to go eat just the 2 of us before picking up Brooks. I sure did enjoy my lunch with this cutie pie!

We went and got Brooks and then headed to get ice cream!

It was definitely a fun day!!

P.S.

Emma made me and Ben a sweet card for our anniversary and was so proud of it. I had to share!! We didn't get home from the rehearsal for recital till after 8:00 and Ben wasn't even here yet. She couldn't wait to show me though and then as soon as he got home she showed him. She's so thoughtful and I love that about her!

That's what she made us when she got home from school today!!

9 Years & Counting...

So I decided I'd do something different for our anniversary post. You can see the last couple of years here, and here. I actually started this questionnaire for Valentine's Day but never posted it and realized it would be great for this occasion as well! So I tweaked a few questions and here you go!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together? A little over 10 1/2 years.

(This is a honeymoon picture I took that was still in the frame so we do kind of look distorted and if you look close enough you can see my reflection taking it with my phone)

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?} We met through a mutual friend at a party. Once we started talking though we found out we knew a lot of the same people, we just had never crossed paths before. After that first time we met though we were pretty much inseperable from that point on.

(Another honeymoon picture in a frame I took, not the best quality)

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell} We have been married 9 years today! I can't believe it's been that long!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small? We got married at the church my parents got married in and then had the reception at the B & A Warehouse (it was awesome). It wasn't huge but there were a lot of people there and we had a great wedding and reception. It was everything I ever wanted!
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share! No we've never been nickname type people.

(This is from a trip to Vegas-again another framed pic, we have no real recent pics)

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey. His patience, the way he is when he's playing with the kids or loving on them, it's priceless and the way he is positive about everything (even when I'm not).

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal? We went to Vegas with my parents and his mom for the first time. We had talked about getting married eventually but I had NO IDEA he was going to propose that weekend. Apparently they had it planned where he was going to do it out somewhere (I can't even remember where now in Vegas) but he changed his mind and couldn't wait any longer so once we got checked in to our hotel he came to my room and asked me then. To say I was shocked is an understatement. It's actually a funny story because I was irritated at first that my mom and dad had left us (because we were all so excited to be there for the first time) when in reality they were waiting right outside the door!

8. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch? My dream is a sunset dinner on the beach but I'm good with a movie and relaxing on the couch as well.

9. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? I really want to go to Hawaii. We almost went there for our honeymoon but decided on St. Lucia instead.

10. Tell us what you plan on doing on you anniversary this year. He actually has an event at work and has to work tonight and I have to take Emma to her rehearsal for her recital. It's funny how things change with kids in the picture. I'm sure we'll celebrate soon though with dinner out.

11. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. Communication is the key!

12. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Happy Anniversary Ben!! I love you!

You Are Beautiful

A while back I had an idea. My jewelry box (it's one of those tall lingerie/jewelry boxes) is a mess. I always throw my earrings in it and it just becomes a mess. I'm not even going to tell you how many times I've run late going somewhere trying to find the 2nd earring. So I decided something needed to be done to solve this problem. I'm not sure if I can take full credit. I feel like it might be a combination of seeing several ideas and just putting them together myself to create this. Thankfully my husband is always willing to accommodate me and build whatever I ask him too. He's pretty good if I do say so myself. :) So I told him what I wanted and we went to Lowe's to get the stuff. I'd seen before where people have used chicken wire for various things/frames, etc and thought that's what I'd get. Lowe's happened to be out of chicken wire, so we got something very similar. This is actually smaller so I think it might be better anyway. Then Ben built the frame and put the wire behind it. When we got to the doors it got quite comical. Apparently, I hadn't been real clear with what I was talking about so it took a day or 2 or maybe a week (shh...we won't tell) before he figured out what I meant...I mean I explained it better! Once it was complete (I totally fail for not taking pictures along the way-however here are step by step instructions)I sprayed it white. Ben still wasn't in love with it and at one point told me I couldn't give him credit for building it because he didn't like it. I told him I wasn't finished with it yet to bare with me! Once it dried white I got out my cricut and printed out what I wanted on it. I put the letters on there and then sprayed it black. I let it dry over night and peeled them off. After that, I got Ben to get his sander out and sand it to make it look distressed. Let me just tell you I was SO EXCITED with how this turned out. I did learn, that we should have painted it possibly before we put the doors on, because you can see in the 2nd picture with the doors open the paint isn't perfect but that's ok!! Who is going to see it besides me anyway! I'm so proud of our team work and creativity to finish it and get it right and I'm pretty sure he'll take full credit now for building it! He was quite pleased when we were both done. Sorry for the blur with the way our bed is it creates a shadow and this was taken with my phone. These pictures don't really do it justice at all!
So what do you think?

Spring Break 2012

Spring Break was a few weeks ago and since we had just been off two weeks before for Disney I couldn't take off any more. So we decided to try and do fun things at night that week to celebrate Spring Break.

One night we went and got ice cream...

Another night we went to the carnival with some sweet friends...Blake, Shannon, Harper and Henley

Here is Emma and Brooks before we left.

Brooks riding the motorcycle, I love to hear him say it!

The 4 of them riding the helicopter...Emma's in there you just can't see her well.

Emma & Harper riding the swings, I couldn't believe she did it but she did. She said she had fun but didn't want to ride them again! ;) They went much higher then I remembered.

When we left the carnival Harper asked her to spend the night so that definitely topped the night off for her. We ran home and got her clothes and I took her over. They had a blast! The next day they went the park to meet my mom. That night Emma was worn out and asleep at 6:30...she's never done that before! So I had to take a picture!

We ended the week with a playdate with her school friends since I'm off on Friday's. Harper, Emma, Roxana & Kate

And later that night Amber, Jarred, Jacob & Colyn came to play...Colyn wouldn't be still long enough for a picture! Here they are eating pizza.

Finally I got one of all 4, excuse the mess in the background...it's amazing how fast 4 little ones can pull everything out! :)

Emma and Brooks ended the night "cutting" daddy's hair!

So even though we had already taken a spring break trip to Disney we still made the best of not being able to take off any extra. I think the kids had fun, they went to the park, the zoo and had several play dates during the day and night. That Saturday night we had our first spend the night guest and I'll be back with pictures from it!
